There are various programs to design 3d machine parts and animation scenes. Some of them which I have been using are Autocad, Mechanical Desktop , Inventor, 3D Studio, MAYA, Blender and SolidWorks. It is also possible to reverse engineer machine parts. There are laser point cloud generators, which scans real part into 3d software. It is also possible to rip game scene 3d data from memory and obtain 3d game model. There are some examples from 15 years.

3D CONSTRAINT and MOVEMENT : ROBOT ARM CONSTRAINT DESIGN A 3d Robot arm part drawings are obtained from a well known manufacturer. Assembly has been performed and constraints applied to simulate motion characteristics.

3D BIOMECHANICAL DRAWING : HUMERUS BONE Humerus bone has been drawn in Mehcanical Desktop (2002) and simulated in Ansys for bone head implant design.

GAME REVERSE ENGINEERING : STARCRAFT MODELS Two Starcraft 2 models are ripped from memory with their animations : Immortal and Stalker. These 3d models were printed as gift using a custom made 3d plastic printer.
