EXAMPLE 1 : BEAM MODELLING In this study a stainless steel beams impulse responses were measured and a modal analysis was performed to match finite element analysis of a simulation model. The beams dimensions were measured and it was drawn in CAD software. After that, the drawing was imported to FEA (Finite Element Analysis) software ANSYS and modal analysis and harmonic analysis were performed. Meshing and material properties were optimized to match simulated system to experimental results. Experimental setup :

After, FEA frequencies are compared and computer model and physical part are matched:

As you can see in the screenshots modal frequencies are closely matched to the real measurements. This study is performed to make an introduction to interns. And it was very successful in terms of hands on training and applied learning. EXAMPLE 2: HELICAL TUBE as a MUSICAL INSTRUMENT
In this example, a helicial stainless steel tube is analysed in FEA software to obtain vibroacoustic properties. After that a synthetic musical instrument is computed in MATLAB. Spanning different points frequency responses a synthetic musical instrument from a stainless steel helicial tube is generated.

This is only finite element analysis video of the deflection during playing ( deflections are x20 times exaggerated) .
The musical instrument sound and songs played with it will be investigated as a project post ...
